Wong Peng Shing was the grandson of prominent Chinese entrepreneur and contractor, Wong Ah Fook, who arrived in Singapore in 1854. Wong Peng Shing’s wife, Violet Woo, was from Hong Kong. In this photograph, the bride is wearing a Western-style loose straight-cut wedding gown with a veil, typical of the flapper style which was popular in the 1920s. The groom is wearing a Western-style suit.
