The photograph shows a mobile advertisement of the Singapore-based 'Tiger Beer' and a large model of the beer bottle mounted on the back of a vehicle. The Chinese name of the beer can be seen in vertical script on the right of the English brand name. The first product of the Malayan Breweries, it was also the first locally brewed beer. At the time this advertisement was launched in 1938, 'Tiger Beer' was a relatively new name, having been in the market only since 1932. Advertising on vehicles were not uncommon in the early 20th century, but this model certainly earned the company the attention of the public. Such advertisements can still be seen on the roads of Singapore, albeit under stricter regulations and mostly on public transportation.
