‘Mother Didn’t Tell Me’ is a 1950 American film starring Dorothy McGuire, William Lundigan and June Havoc. American films streamed into Singapore and Malaysia in the 1920s and the number grew tremendously over the years. By the late 1930s, Hollywood films constituted 70 percent of the films shown here. The others were Chinese, Indian, Malay, British and European films. During this period, most European and English-language films were screened in more upmarket theatres such as Cathay, Capitol, Alhambra and Rex.
