This painting, by artist Sharifah Zuriah Aljeffri, features the Arabic alphabets Ha Mim, the opening letters of seven surahs, chapters 40-46 of the holy Qur'an. It belongs to the the series of calligraphic paintings entitled "Bosnia" and painted during the Bosnian crisis.Sharifah Zuriah Aljeffri is the first Malay artist to paint in the Chinese brush technique in Malaysia. In her works on nature and Arabic calligraphy, signs and images become acts of spiritual contemplation or interpretation of social-political issues, such as atrocities committed through war.
