The grand Membership Certificate of the Ghee Hin Kongsi

The grand membership certificate of the Ghee Hin Kongsi, the first secret society in Singapore, forms part of the William Stirling Collection. William George Stirling was the Assistant Protector of Chinese in Singapore from 1921 to 1931. The certificate was only considered valid when it bore all the red chops as shown. This certificate, however, was not carried around by members. Instead, it was kept safely at home and a more simplified version was taken out.
