Mr. Lee, whose photographic career spanned from the mid 1950s to the 1990s, belonged to a group of local post-World War Two photographers. He is known for his technical proficiency and his best works are those that feature human subjects. He was awarded the ARPS (Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain) in 1957 as well as the ‘Pingat Bakti Masyarakat’ (PBM) or Public Service Medal in 1978.
