Craven ‘A’, a British brand of cigarettes, was established in the 1810s. In the 1950s and 1960s, cigarettes were usually sold in coffee shops and sundry shops across Singapore. Apart from cheaper brands produced locally, many brands were imported from the United Kingdom. These imported brands were preferred among British smokers who lived and worked in Singapore.
