Print of a Buddhist pagoda

Appearing in a German illustrated newspaper, this picture of a temple was incorrectly captioned as situated in Singapore. It is more likely the picture depicts a scene from one of the European colonies in 19th century Southeast Asia, as the bell-shaped dome in the background resembles a Buddhist pagoda from Theravada Buddhist kingdoms in and around present-day Thailand, Myanmar and Laos.
