The two-storey Neptune Theatre Restaurant was officially opened in October 1972. Built at a cost of more than $5 million, it was the largest theatre restaurant in Singapore and was a popular venue for night-clubbing in the 1970s and 1980s. During its heyday, music stars such as Engelbert Humperdinck and Tom Jones held performances there. The Neptune was also famous for its nightly topless revues and had its own resident troupe, the Neptune Dance Revue, which was disbanded in 1986.
