This red and cream sarong depicts scenes of chandeliers and people dancing, as if it were a ball. The front of the sarong is decorated with traditional triangular patterns known as tumpal in batik terminology. Batik sarongs such as this were worn by Peranakan women and paired with a kebaya. Many bought their batiks from the North Coast of Java.
