The Harbour View Dai-Ichi Hotel was so named as it was managed by Japan’s Dai-Ichi Hotel Group for ten years upon its completion in 1985. The property was developed by the Hong Leong Group. With its acquisition by Republic Hotels & Resorts in 1995, it was renamed the Copthorne Harbour View Hotel. It reopened as the M Hotel in 2002 after undergoing refurbishment works for two years. Moving away from the tourist market and leveraging on its location in the Central Business District, the new hotel is positioned as a business hotel catering to corporate travellers. It is managed by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, a subsidiary of the Hong Leong Group.
