This ‘salendang’ or shoulder cloth is in the style of Samburuan village in West Sumatra. The workmanship on this piece is quite exceptional. It includes the ‘balah kacang’ and ‘pucuak rabuang motifs’. It is woven using red warp and weft threads with supplementary weft threads wrapped with fine gold foil. It ends in unusual tassels with gold metallic ornaments.
