Located along South Bridge Road, Jamae Mosque was built between 1826 and 1835 and the its architecture is characterised by the distinct twin towers. Just a few steps down the street lies the tower-like 'gopuram' of Sri Mariamman Temple, which was established in the early 19th century by Naraina Pillai, a government clerk from Penang who came to Singapore with Sir Stamford Raffles.
