Lifetime Gain" was the 1990 slogan for the National School Savings Campaign. This POSB memo pad was part of a national campaign to promote the virtue of thriftiness among students, as well as to encourage them to save. It was introduced in 1969 and discontinued in 1978, before being re-launched in 1983. Known for its habit of storing food for rainy days, the squirrel was chosen as the mascot for the campaign with the aim of inspiring students to save. Apart from memo pads, the squirrel appeared on several of the publicity materials and activities associated with the campaign, including the cover of the POSB account book for children, as well as educational shows.
