By the 1920s, women started to regard perfume in the same way they looked at couture dress. Parfums Caron, a French perfumery founded in 1904, was known for its stylish bottles, which were designed by a former dressmaker, Felicie Vanpouille. A couture fragrance, Caron was dedicated solely to producing fragrances, as compared to Chanel or Christian Dior, which were essentially fashion houses. The perfume shown here, Voeux de Noel (Christmas Greetings) was created in 1939.
