CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) Medal awarded to Major-General Sir Dudley Ridout

Major-General Sir Dudley Ridout was the Commander of Troops, Straits Settlements, from 1915 to 1921. He was made Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his role in the suppression of the Sepoy Mutiny of 1915. Ridout had also been awarded medals for his role in the Boer War (1899-1902). This medal is surmounted by the imperial crown. It shows the figure of Britannia holding a trident and seated beside a shield bearing the national flag.
