This bronze lime container in the shape of a stylised bird has raised geometric decoration on the body and the pedestal it stands on. The lime container was reportedly found in Central Java and dates to the 1st century CE, representing the long bronze-casting tradition of the Dong Son and its dispersal over a wide area. The limepot, associated with the ancient practice of betel chewing, was used to store powdered lime, which together with areca nut and betel leaf formed a chewing quid.
