This large wedding necklace has seven pendants with two of them in the shape of the upswept buffalo horn that is associated with Minangkabau. It is part of a set of wedding jewellery and headdress worn by a Minangkabau bride and which is also worn during formal occasions. Considered as 'pusako' or heirloom jewellery and owned by the matrilineage, they may be borrowed for ceremonial occassions by family members of the same lineage and must always be returned after use.
