This sherd has incised bands and stamped, circular motifs. Earthenware sherds like this example have been found in significant quantities in the region of Bagan, particularly along the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River.Bagan (formerly known as Pagan) was an important cultural centre in upper Myanmar(formerly Burma). Between the 10th and 13th centuries CE, during the height of its power, thousands of Buddhist temples, stupas and monasteries were constructed in this area.
