This large Sawankhalok dish with a deep well is covered in a translucent pale-green celadon glaze which enhances the decoration of the carved peony flower head in the interior.Sawankhalok wares were exported widely in Southeast Asia at various periods. The Sawankhalok kilns in the Sukothai – Si Satchanalai area produced large quantities of greenwares during the 14th-16th centuries. Many of these have thick green glazes similar to the famous Longquan celadons from Zhejiang province in China.
