The Majestic Theatre was a Cantonese opera house built by Eu Tong Sen, a tin mining and rubber magnate, for his wife who was a Cantonese opera fan. Designed by Swan & Maclaren, the famous architectural firm that also designed the Victoria Memorial Hall, the theatre embodies both Eastern and Western architectural styles and is a prominent landmark in Chinatown.
