Munajat, the work of Sufi Abdullah al-Ansari (d.1089), is a masterpiece in Persian religious literature. Its brief and intense verses about love and trust in God inspired other mystical works like the Gulistan ("The Rose Garden", a landmark literary work in Persian literature written in 1259 C.E.). The piece on display was written in nasta'liq script by the celebrated calligrapher, Mir Imad al-Hassani (d.1615).
