In the 1920s, women began to go out more and paid greater attention to their appearance and aesthetic choices. They were inspired by Hollywood movies and imported magazines. This is a vanity set consisting of a brush, comb, mirror and powder box (see 2006-00251 to 2006-00254). Each item in the set is richly embossed with floral patterns of the Art Nouveau style. Vanity sets like these were found in luxury department stores such as John Little & Co. They were usually sold in a silver case, complete with hair curlers, manicure instruments and a table mirror.
