Located at the corner of Finlayson Green and Raffles Quay, the Asia Insurance Building was officially opened in 1955 to house the offices of the Asia Insurance Company, a local firm established in 1923. With 18 floors, it was one of the tallest buildings in the region when it was completed in 1954. Designed by renowned architect Ng Keng Siang, the building’s facade was inspired by various architectural styles, particularly that of the Modern Movement. Bought over by the Ascott Group in 2006, the building has since been redeveloped into a block of luxury serviced apartments.
