This rectangular textile is a ceremonial man's cloth known as the 'suui". It is made of handspun cotton and coloured using natural dyes. The cloth is woven in supplementary weft and ploychrome yarns with a series of human figures seated on a chair in modern-day clothing. This sort of seated motif is typical of the Southern Belu region, where the textile is woven. It is draped over the sholders or worn as a hip wrap by men during festive occasions or religious events.
