Headless stone torso of Bodhisattva (Puxa Shenxiang)

A statue representing the torso of a bodhisattva, as indicated by the presence of elaborate jewellery of a body chain which has a plaque covering the navel and a chest ornament of pearls and a lotus bud pendant. The bodhisattva wears dhoti-like lower garment which is fastened around the hip, draping in two large groups of loops each on one thigh. The upper body is unclothed except for a loosely slung strap of silk over the left shoulder. The left knee is depicted slightly forward of the right one, which suggests that the sculpture lands its weight in an hanchee, slight twist.
