This four-armed portly Shiva gana (dwarf attendant of Shiva) with matted hair and discal earrings hardly looks like a warrior. This sculpture of Shiva's attendant was used as part of a column bearing the weight of the temple roof and it is placed supporting a pillar like a bracket. Sculptures such as this are to be seen from a lower vantage point thus making the entire figure small and dwarf-like. The warrior although fearful, is adorned with bangles, arm bands, necklace and choker, including head ornaments.
