This is an example of cast gold ring which features a motif. Sri was the Hindu goddess of rice, fertility, good fortune, and prosperity in general, and rings with Sri motifs were probably believed to bring luck to the wearer. Such rings with U-shaped hoops and flat bezels across the top were known as stirrup rings. Due to their sizes, some of them could have been strung around the neck and used as pendants or seals. Although Indian influence had reached Java by this time and Indian motifs provided inspiration for Javanese goldsmiths, Javanese jewellery were not mere imitates of Indian models. The nature of interaction between Indian and Javanese culture remains a subject of debate.
