This Qur'an is written in fine naskh script surrounded by gold clouds. The end of each verse is marked with a gold roundel, and the surah (chapter) headings are in white thulth script.According to the classical tradition established by Ibn Muqhal (in late 9th century), there are six cursive scripts. Thulth, Naskh, Muhaqqaq, Rayhan, Riqa and Tawqi. Before Ibn Muqlah, naskh was not considered an elegant script. It appealed basically to the common people because it was easy to write. Under Ibn Muqlah's system, it became a major script. Today, it is one of the more popular scripts used. The Qur'an in the Malay world are usually written in this script.Thulth is one of the most impressive scripts used for large inscriptions. In the Qur'an, it is often used for surah (chapter) headings.
