This blue and white dish has a foliate rim and is decorated with 16 panels of floral sprays on the exterior. On the underside of the dish, there is a round stamp mark which resembles a Chinese coin with a square in the middle. The words in it read ‘長命富貴’ (Chang Ming Fu Gui) meaning long life and good fortune. The production of blue and white ware in large quantities started during the Yuan dynasty (1279-1368) for the Middle Eastern market. By the Ming (1368-1644), blue and white wares were produced for the emperor, domestic consumption and for export to many places such as the Philippines, Indonesia and Europe.
