This is an example of a cast gold ring with an octagonal bezel that is three-tiered. It features a simple motif in the center, possibly a Sri motif. Most motifs inscribed on rings in this period are related to the Hindu goddess Sri, the goddess of rice, fertility, good fortune, and prosperity. Although Indian influence had reached Java by this time and Indian motifs provided inspiration for Javanese goldsmiths, Javanese jewellery were not mere imitates of Indian models. The nature of interaction between Indian and Javanese culture remains a subject of debate.
