This porcelain plate belongs to the Zhong Nan Hai collection, which was commissioned for Mao's personal use at his residence of that name.From the costumes they wear, this plate features a group of what appears to be tribal dancers. The pink banner says 'wan shou wu jiang' which means 'Wishing Chairman Mao another 10,000 lives'. Usually a birthday greeting, it is not clear the occasion for which this plate was made.
