Mangkok is the Baba Malay term for bowl. It is part of the Peranakan dining ware, known collectively as pinggan mangkok, meaning plates and bowls. The design on the bowl features auspicious motifs such as pheasant, peony and the Buddhist symbols of the eternity knot, the lotus, and the wheel of the law.
