This is a ring with stone surrounded by granules at the base. In general, Javanese goldsmiths either incise designs into the stones or smoothen and polish them like this one, suggesting that the colour and weight of the stone were probably more important than its shape or the ability to reflect light. Javanese statues depict people wearing usually two rings on each hand and one on each foot. Besides personal adornment, gold was also used to make religious items during this period.
