Mangkok is the Baba Malay term for bowl. It is part of the Peranakan dining ware, known collectively as pinggan mangkok, meaning plates and bowls. The design on the bowl features auspicious motifs such as peony and the Buddhist symbols of the umbrella, wheel of the law, and the jar.
