Ear ornament

This is an ear ornament with a gap in the loop, adorned with seven decorative pods on the surface. Unlike the preceding period that used gold for grave offering, gold was fashioned into personal adornment in this period. Ear ornaments of this period usually came in the shape of an open oval or a loop. This period also saw the beginning of using heat to work gold and the use of techniques like casting and soldering. Such was the sophistication of the techniques that it is possible that gold working had become a specialised occupation by this time.
