V-shape motif ornament with pointed projections

The fine detail on this ornament was carved after casting was completed. Compared to the preceding period, ornaments belonging to this period tended to be very densely ornamented and intricate. Such rich designs were proof of the highly attained skills of Javanese craftsmen, who made use of the techniques of chasing, granulation and filigree. It is possible to classify ear ornaments in this period by the shape of their cross-section, and besides V-shape, ear ornaments also took U, D, or S shapes.
