Necklace fragment

This necklace fragment is one of several fragments and it is decorated by repoussé work. It has been suggested that such oval pendants represent mangoes and symbolise the feminine power of the yoni. The pendant has also been interpreted as ‘tiger claw’, similar to the one worn by the youthful Krishna and Buddhist Boddhisattva Manjusri. It is said that this type of necklace is found in early Sanskrit literature from India, and is associated with a warrior's glory.
