This gold ear ornament is decorated with flame-like motifs and a quatrefoil motif in the middle that appears to be a setting for a stone, although it is usually found empty. Compared to the preceding period, ornaments belonging to this period tended to be very densely ornamented and intricate. Such rich designs were proof of the highly attained skills of Javanese craftsmen, who made use of the techniques of chasing, granulation and filigree.
