These gold beads probably belong to the 3rd-8th centuries, but it is possible that they belong to an earlier period and that their popularity had lasted into the later centuries. Javanese goldwork during this era does not reflect influence from India, instead it shares more similarities with the jewellery of maritime Southeast Asia. Gold beads are the oldest gold objects in Southeast Asia, and were made in Philippines about 2500 years ago.
