This shard is the base of a bowl or dish with central medallion of spiral and curve design surrounded by foliated pattern. Kalong wares are characterised by their fine-grained, whitish bodies, wide bases and underglazes of broad strokes often with vegetal or floral designs. They are considered to be among the finest of all Thai ceramics.
