The fine detail on this piece of ornament was carved after casting was completed. Compared to the preceding period, ornaments belonging to this period tended to be very densely ornamented and intricate, and striking in design. Such rich designs were proof of the highly attained skills of Javanese craftsmen, who made use of the techniques of chasing, granulation and filigree. Gold ornaments of this period are in fact much rarer than its preceding period.
