This painting is part of a set of watercolor paintings from Karnataka. It depicts Krishna approaching an angry Radha. The transparent sari with a gold border has an erotic sensuality. The blouse is usually in contrast colours to differentiate the colour scheme. The hair of Krishna is tied to one side of the head and a sarpech (bejeweled head fastener) adorns the head too. The use of fine lines, shading around the contours, emphasises volume and form. Most likely the use of these paintings was for courtly past-time and admiration by aesthetes of poetry and dance.
