This is a green short-sleeved cheongsam. Golden shimmery lines run horizontally across the silk fabric. The flap on the right-hand side is secured by press studs. The cheongsam was first worn by young women, including female university students, in the 1920s. It resembled the robes worn by Manchu women, which were loosely fitted and ankle length. Influenced by Western fashion, it became more shaped and fitted over the years.
