This rectangular embroidered panel is created using bead embroidery or threading. This is a technique where the coloured seed beads are stitched onto a base fabric using needle and thread. The main decorative motifs on this piece are flowers (possibly peonies) and birds of various species, such as the rooster and crane. Peonies are auspicious symbols that represent wealth and prosperity while cranes symbolise longevity.Such panels were usually used as table covers, panels for picture frames, as ornamental hangings, pillow and bolster cases among others.
