This human head was probably part of a larger piece in the form of a guardian figure. It was made in Si Satchanalai or Sukhothai, the twin royal cities in the Sukhothai period from the mid 13th to the mid 15th century. Kilns in this region were some of the largest ceramic producers in Southeast Asia at this time.
