Sherd

This sherd appears to be a FIve Dynasties Yue ware. It has firing scars and adhesions from kilns supports. These high-fired stoneware with fine green glazes were highly prized for their lustre and vivid colour. The best pieces were made for the imperial courts.Yue ware is characterised by the glazed celadon finish and grey to olive green hues. Early vessels were typically minimally decorated. The wares get their name from the Yue kilns in Northern Zhejiang and produced a variety of products including jars, pots, incense burners, cups, bowls, flasks, dishes and plates.
