This jar has high shoulders, a sharply tapered form and a raised footring. It is covered in a thick white glaze which stops short of the foot, exposing the unglazed buff coloured clay body. The piece was made in Si Satchanalai or Sukhothai, the twin royal cities in the Sukhothai period from the mid 13th to mid 15th century. Kilns in this region were some of the largest ceramic producers in Southeast Asia at this time.
