The late Mr Lim Kim San was an energetic Singaporean statesman and public servant who served as the first Chairman of the Housing and Development Board, who was best known for his contributions in housing the population of Singapore in the 1960s. In recognition of his accomplishment, he became the first person to be awarded the nation's highest honour, the Order of Temasek (Darjah Utama Temasek), in 1962. During his distinguished public service career, Mr Lim held ministerial positions in various ministries from finance, education, defence to environment. He was Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisors and had also chaired various boards such as Port of Singapore Authority, Singapore Press Holdings and Monetary Authority of Singapore.
