This tankard of tapering cylindrical form is decorated with a scene of a foreign hunter on horseback chasing what could be a deer or a mythical beast. Bordered with floral scrolls, it was possibly modelled after Dutch stoneware or wooden prototypes sent to Jingdezhen for potters to copy. Tankards in China were mostly produced for export to Europe.
